FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q:      What happens to any fundraising efforts that exceed $1 million?

A:      Any amounts donated in excess of our initial goal of $1 million will go into the general Driscoll account for future expenses. This “cushion” will allow us some flexibility in our operating budget for next, and subsequent years, so that borrowing additional funds would not be necessary.

Q:      What is Plan “A” and do we have a Plan “B”?

A:      We are working on plans to ensure the viability and sustainability of Driscoll Catholic. Our plans call for a multi-faceted approach. Our commitment is to a quality Catholic education. We are doing everything possible to ensure that Driscoll continues as a Catholic education institution. A meeting will be scheduled, later next week (details to follow), for concerned parents and friends of Driscoll, to share the essence of our plan that will be presented to the Brothers.

Q:      When will we know the Brothers’ final decision?

A:      Our presentation is scheduled for April 21st. We have a 2 ½ hour time slot in which to present to the Brothers. We can expect a decision within one week of our presentation.

Q:      Beyond donations, how can I help Driscoll Catholic?

A:      There are a few important things that we can all do to help ensure the future of Driscoll catholic. They are:

1.    Be a conduit for GOOD news about our school. Share good stories, talk of your positive experiences, your child’s successes, and position our school in a positive light in all communications.

2.    We are all in “recruiting mode.” It is imperative that we all do our level best to attract students to our school and retain those we already have. Talk to any potential incoming parents and students as well as current parents and students and urge them to NOT give up on us. Without enrollment, all other efforts will be undermined. We see our current situation as a large hurdle, but not insurmountable! We intend to be successful.

Q:      Will Driscoll exist in years to come? How can I be assured of that?

A:      The Christian Brothers of the Midwest have told us that they will not allow the school to continue operating unless the following two important criteria are met:

1.            Address the current financial shortfall

2.            Demonstrate long-term financial, enrollment, and educational viability going forward.

Our plans are being tailored to ensure that these criteria are met. The Brothers have committed to us that they will not accept a plan that does not meet all of these criteria. They have been educators for many years and we must listen to their critique and have faith in their wisdom and judgment of our on-going plans.
