We were fortunate enough to be able to send my oldest son to Driscoll. He graduated in the class of 2007. I cannot thank the teachers, coaches and families enough for what they contributed to the person he is today. This catastrophe effects all of us, for me it was summed up by my youngest son. When I told him Driscoll was going to close he said, â??thatâ??s awful now I wonâ??t get a chance.â?

A Sad Girl said:   May 1, 2009 7:58 am PST
I can't help but be SO sad over the news that they are really going to close DC. I only attended Driscoll for 2 years, and then had to leave for financial reasons, but still to this day wish I could have finished my high school career there. I went back to school to get my teaching degree, and am finishing up in the next few weeks. I had no intention of ever teaching anywhere but Driscoll because to this day, the love and family that has surrounded my life has been largely from DC, and those who attended the school. I feel the Driscoll Family has been so let down, and was sent a message by the Brothers that there would never be any hope. How sad that students, past, present and future are left with the thoughts that they were abandon by the ones with whom they were taught to respect and thought they could turn to in a time of need. What a slap in the face to everyone. Driscoll deserves to stay open, its legacy needs to continue on. There is nothing more heartbreaking to me than the loss of something or someone I love, and DC truly has a huge piece of my heart; it always will. The Brothers can take our school, but they will never break up the Family that is Driscoll. WE ARE DRISCOLL, and we always will be. Much love to the entire DC Family, you will all be in my hearts forever. LIVE DRISCOLL IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER!

Thank you so very much to the team, loyal supporters and everyone that fought the fight for Driscoll! To stand up for what you truly believe in - is a lesson the students will take away with them for a lifetime. As a mom of one of Driscoll's teachers, my best wishes to faculty, staff and students for success in future endeavors. I am proud that my son was a part of such a great tradition and a school that sent the majority of students on to college.

I really don't know what to say, however I do want to believe that what goes around comes around; and those who denied us, will have to live with this FOREVER!! How anyone could say that this does not have anything to do with our catholic religion, is wrong. We as adults can rational as best as we can, but not our kids. They are at the most vulnerable age, and to see, read and hear how heartless the Christian Brothers and Bishop Sartin were to our plans is unspeakable. My son is a Junior at DC, and even though his Senior year will be somewhere else, his heart and sould will ALWAYS remain at DRISCOLL. Thank you so very much to the committee, alumni, communities, parents, teachers and everyone else that pulled for us. You WERE PHENOMENAL!!!, NO MATTER WHAT THOSE(CHRISTIANS/BISHOP)SAY!!

Thank you to the "Driscoll, the Next 43 Years Committee". Your efforts were a shining example of what many of us learned at DC. You demonstrated what it means to live your Catholic faith and your efforts haven't gone unnoticed. As a graduate of Driscoll Catholic and aunt of current DC students and graduates, I am saddened by the Bishop's decision not only for current students but for the future of Catholic education as whole. We must all continue to pray that our leaders revive their commitment to help educate and lead our children. Live Jesus in our Hearts Forever.

As a former FSC Brother, I believe that a large part of the problem is the shortage of Brothers. I challenge any of the Driscoll parents to encouarge their sons to become a Christian Brother. Driscoll was founded by Brothers who taught, administered and worked to make Driscoll the school it has become. Unfortunately, there are few Brothers left to carry on the tradition.

Words are inadequate vehicles for all I want to say. We loved our time at Driscoll. Our children loved it too. The first time I walked into the building I felt as if the very walls were alive and the spirit of Driscoll permeated everyone who entered. The students we met and have known conveyed wonder, friendship, trust and integrity in every handshake and hug. DC provided a center for many families and we learned so much from so many and found so many friends who we will now become distant over time. Thank you all for the experience, Sefcik, Racki, Buz, Mrs. Buz, Mrs. Sherry, the Gasperi horde, Tuna, Donny, Flott, Coach Q, Tony G. and the entire family, Clan Reaber, Loci, Bob Crowe, Dr. L. Creach, Molek, and Urzig, Tranch, the Schwabes, Tenuto to name a few. All of you provided joy to us and made every trip to Addison exciting. We won't forget any of you. All of you will truly live in our hearts forever.

All I can say is that Brother Samuel and Brother Dolph would be sick to their stomachs. This is disheartening and the Christian Brothers have to now live with this guilt.

To say that Driscoll changed our lives would be an understatement. We started at Driscoll Catholic in 1978. As freshmen, Lisa Busato told a friend, "I will never go to homecoming with Dennis Hennessy." Yet, by senior year, we did go to homecoming together. Now we have the privilege of sending our 3 children, Austin (2010), Deanna (2012) and Grant (2014), to Driscoll Catholic High School. For our family, there was never a question of where our children would go to high school. DC is where they always wanted to attend. Living only 3 miles away, in Itasca, just made it easier. The truth is, we would have driven a lot farther to give them the same DC experience we were so fortunate to have. Our children grew up at Driscoll, wearing DC clothing and attending DC events. 3 aunts, 5 uncles and 3 of their cousins are all Driscoll Catholic graduates. We feel blessed to send our children to "our school". We are also fortunate to count so many Driscoll Alumni and Driscoll Parents among our friends. Having been associated with Driscoll Catholic for over 30 years, we have friends from nearly every graduating class since Driscoll has been in existence. We will continue to cherish these relationships for the rest of our lives. The announcement that Driscoll was closing stunned and saddened our entire family. Not just for our own selfish reasons, but for future generations that may not get to be part of the Driscoll Catholic "Family". The response has been nothing short of amazing. From the exceptional work of the "Driscoll...The Next 43 Years Committee", to the extremely generous alumni and community support, to the hundreds of Driscoll parents and students who have worked so tirelessly over the last few weeks to keep our school going; it has been an inspiration. It is a stark reminder to all of us why Driscoll Catholic High School is so important and why it must continue. GO DC!
